Alternative Halloween, by Samario Fields

Jessica’s dad always starts the party out with a bonfire. Then they all gather around the fire to roast some marshmallows. While the family is roasting their marshmallows, dad sneaks away to put cheeseburgers and hot dogs on the grill. He plans this celebration each year to focus on God’s mercy for blessing the harvest.

While the other children participate in the celebration of goons and goblins, Jessica is storing lasting memories about quality family time. When Jessica is grown, she can carry the same tradition with her children with values that last a lifetime.

  1. Your title intrigued me, so I had to see what you had written. Great reminder of what we should be celebrating as winter approaches.
